NTNU Old Dome Astronomical Observatory Fans Gathered Without the Moon

 Department of earth science old dome astronomical observatory opened to public on December 10th. It was the best time to see the moon since the distance between Earth and Jupiter was very close and the lunar eclipse. Even the weather was horrible, all the astronomical fans still gathered in the observatory. Yen Chi-hung from department of earth science said that, “the cold days won’t stop people’s passion of astronomical.”

Department of earth science started to hold the “old dome astronomical observatory opened to public” since 1999, dedicated to the astronomical education. The old dome astronomical observatory specially provided 40cm gauge of automatic computerized astronomical telescope. Three more small astronomical telescopes were provided for the public to operate. Unfortunately, the cloud was too thick, couldn’t see the moon turning red. Yen Chi-hung indicated that the information of astronomical was too little in Taiwan. Media seldom make the related show. Therefore, every time the activity could attract so many people who want to find out the mystery of astronomy. With the Nobel Prize in Physics, the dark power research, Doctor Lin Yan-ting from Academia Sinica institute of Astronomy & Astrophysics was invited to give the lecture of “The Dark Power of the Universe”.

The activity had been on for 13 years. The neighborhood was very familiar with it. Many high school teachers promoted the activity in class, attracted high school students to participate.
