The global warming problem became more and more serious, environmental sustainable development was necessary. On August 10th, NTNU originated the event and united 47 university representatives to gather in NTNU First Meeting Room. The event arranged the Green University League and discussed the future cooperation mode. Everyone should strive for our environment and save energy, leave a better learning environment for our next generation.

The international meaning of green university was to make sustainable development as the prospect. Combined the responsibility of higher education people to the whole human society. The original purpose was to lower the university environment cost. Nowadays, it was expanded to the environmental education. Blended the thought of sustainable development and environment protection to the university education. Raised people’s concern to our environment and set the society development foundation through the purpose of university education.

The Green University League was started by the dean of NTNU Graduate Institute of Environmental Education Yeh Hsin Cheng. It increased to 47 universities and founded the league. Combined the power of each school, government, enterprise, and non-governmental organization to raise the public’s conscious of sustainability.

Each school representatives passed the discussion with one consent in the first meeting. NTNU Principal Chang Kuo En indicated that NTNU would set a well discussion platform during the league arranging time. Through the cooperation and discussion, built up the great example of Green University.
