NTNU Promoted Saving Energy and Recycling Saved Up to 3 Millions a Year

 With the problem of global warming and the raising price of oil and electricity, saving energy and recycling became the hottest current issue that people talked about. NTNU promoted the saving energy activities on campus, supported by Bureau of Energy Ministry of Economic Affairs. Estimated to save up to 3 millions NT dollars of bill a year and reduced 6.7 millions matric tons of carbon dioxide emissions.

NTNU and Taiwan Green Productivity Foundation held the result presentation at Gong Guan Campus on September 7th to share the methods and experiences of saving energy. NTNU had made a great effort on saving energy. Not only changed most of the equipment that save energy but also preserved the appearance of the building. Built up power controlling system to record the energy information and organized it better and more efficiently. NTNU also encouraged students and teachers to take the public transportation to school.
Since the green university plan promoted, NTNU electricity had decreased 1.49 millions and 3100 Kwh and 951 metric ton of carbon dioxide emissions. The vice director of Office of General Affairs Chen Mei Yung indicated that NTNU had more than 500 teachers and it was undergoing the transformation. It was a great challenge to save energy, but the green university group would accept the challenge and make some effort to the society.
