NTNU Signed an MOU with The Université libre de Bruxelles

 

On August 28, National Taiwan Normal University signed an MOU with The Université libre de Bruxelles (ULB), which is the first step or cooperation after the College of Arts has signed the MOU with ULB in July. President Chang Kuo En and President Yvon Englert were presented at the International Cooperation Agreement Signing Ceremony. 
In the signing ceremony, President Chang introduced to the guests of ULB the strength of NTNU and welcomed them to Taiwan. “We are grateful to this cooperation. ULB is a very Internationalized university and so is NTNU. Around 6000 foreign students and 1500 oversea Chinese students study here.”
 
Prof. Yvon Englert was also glad to see the cooperation and hoped that both schools can benefit from each other’s strength and create a win-win situation. Prof. Englert said that they were happy to be at this signing ceremony because they have heard about the outstanding research outcome of Chinese teaching at NTNU. 
The Université libre de Bruxelles (ULB) (French for Free University of Brussels, though rarely translated) is a French-speaking private research university in Brussels, Belgium. Founded in 1834, it is one of the most important Belgian universities. A major research center open to Europe and the world, it has about 24,200 students, 32% of whom come from abroad, and an equally cosmopolitan staff. ULB has a complete program from the bachelor to PhD, with 13 faculties and 4 campuses and 8,200 faculty members, 4100 researchers and 1,800 PhD students. ULB specialized the field of science, engineering, life sciences and social and human sciences. This university is also a highly internationalized one, just as NTNU. 32% of undergrads and graduate students, 45% or PhD students and 16% faculties come from countries outside of Belgium.
 
Prof. Ann Heylen from International Taiwan Studies Centers said that it is a great progress for Taiwan and Belgium. The goal for signing this MOU is to let students from both sides to learn from each other face to face and have a thorough communication.
