Orientation of the Division of Preparatory Programs

 
Students of the Division of Preparatory Programs come from more than 20 countries in the world. The orientation is one of the most expected events. This year, the orientation last for three days, from September 13th to 15th. The students have to get up at 7 am and the activities last till 8:30 pm. Students are asked to dress up and not to wear slippers, sandals, shorts and jeans.
The foreign students should acquire the Alien Resident Certificate when they live in Taiwan. Officers from the Immigration Agency will come to the campus to help students with their ARCs. The courses are very useful, for example, life on campus, rules in dormitory, scholarship, how to apply for a work permit, school safety, safety and social security, And dormitory disaster prevention drill, health education and gender relations, introduction of school administrative units and so on. All of them received a welcome gift in a camouflage bag. A notebook, a booklet, a pen, some biscuits, and water.
12 alumni from the DPP came back to share with them what university life is like in Taiwan and accompany them to adjusting the new life. They are now studying in different universities in Taiwan.
One Malaysian student said that she will study hard at the Division of Preparatory Programs and not let her parents down. One Indonesian student said that she likes the booklet, which is well designed and informational. Another Malaysian student was impressed by the talks by President Chang. He said that he will remember when he vowed on the orientation ceremony, to dedicate himself, respect teachers, study hard and make friends.
