World class soprano Jamie Barton will soon perform in Taichung. Chinn-Horng Nanette, Chair of Music Department, invited Jamie to come to NTNU and have a masterclass. Four students have the chance to go on stage and the masterclass is open to the public. 

Jamie Barton is an American mezzo-soprano. She won the BBC Cardiff Singer of the World competition (both Main and Song Prizes) in June 2013. In 2014, she received the International Opera Award (Young Singer) and Marian Anderson Award. She is also the winner of the 2015 Richard Tucker Award.

In the masterclass, Barton is very kind to the students with a sense of humor. She is keen to detail and focus the importance of emotion input. She wants the students to think carefully about the background of character and mindset. She said that it is the detail and precision that give result to a great character. 

She also teaches the techniques like pronunciation, and some habitual movements. The students will know the blind spot and improve their performing skills. Jamie Barton will perfume at National Taichung Theater on October 11th, 13th and 15th. Everyone is welcomed to see her great performance in Taichung.
