Nanyang Technological University Signed MOU with Innovation and Entrepreneurship Program, Dept. of Design

 
Principal Investigator Hsu Ho Chieh of the Innovation and Entrepreneurship Program at Design Department of NTNU signed a MOU with Prof. Wang I-Hsuan Cindy, the Principal Investigator of The Spirit of Chinese Brushwork & Crafts of Nanyang Technological University for mutual study and research. The Nanyang Technological University (NTU) is the second oldest public autonomous research university in Singapore. With a population of 33,500 students and 10,000 faculty and staff, NTU is the second largest university in Singapore. Their QS Ranking in 2019 is 12 and 3rd in Asia Universities.
 
The project 'Spirit of Chinese Brushwork & Crafts -An exploration of Chinese art philosophy and aesthetics in graphic design practice and education' of NTU received a research grant of about NTD 10 million from the Ministry of Education of Singapore. This program focuses on how Chinese ink and calligraphy aesthetics can be transformed into contemporary visual design language. How to construct a scientific visual design education system for oriental aesthetics through international academic exchanges and cross-cultural art culture creation and research and apply to design-related education and Innovation.
 
The Principal Investigator, Prof. Cindy Wang, is an educator and designer of visual design. She has won for times in IF Award, 5 Red dot Award, IDA Design, 6 GOOD DESIGN(USA), 8 One Show Design Award (USA) and 3 Design for Asia Award (HK). This explains that Cindy’s creativity, talents, and ability are recognized throughout the continents of Asia, North America, and Europe. Many professors are involved in this project, for example, Hans Martin, Rall Chen, Chun-Hsien, I Lo-fen, Hee Wai Siam from NTU, Hsu Ho Chieh from NTNU, Roger Ball from Georgia Tech University, Prof. Scot Laughton from Sheridan College, Canada. Their expertise varies in cultural theory research, multimedia animation, visual design and culture, product design, art, etc.
