English Majors Present Their Dramas

<p>By Amber Wang<br /> Campus Reporter</p> <p>Through the raising and dropping of the curtains, today the English majors and the drama judges shared the memories and values of lives through energetic performances in the annual drama contest at the auditorium.&nbsp;</p> <p>&quot;It is such a surprise to see such a great variety of performances to all put the originality,&rdquo; said Alan Lin (林境南), a professor of English Department and one of the referees of this year&rsquo;s drama contest.&nbsp;</p> <p>Aaron Deveson, the British professor came to teach NTNU this year, and has his first time to witness and judge this annual event, said that &ldquo;Mirror,&rdquo; which used the comp humor, is the one that impressed him most.&nbsp; The students used different ways to present the relationships among people and self.&nbsp; It represents the fact that mirror becomes the refuge to your mind, but sometimes it is also the lie to self.&nbsp;</p> <p>Not only the living reflection of &ldquo;Mirror,&rdquo; the &ldquo;Such Stuff as Dreams are Made on&rdquo; presented the teacher-student interaction in class to give flashback of the college lives in NTNU, presented by Class 2009, did impress Lin.</p> <p>&quot;I saw that some of your actresses playing students.&nbsp; One of a few of you are really like crying,&rdquo; Lin said.&nbsp; &ldquo;I understand your feeling and I knew what you are doing.&nbsp; It is really sad, of course, to lose a teacher&hellip;you are using this to commemorate her&hellip;&rdquo;&nbsp;</p> <p>An anonymous student in English Department said that one of the retired English Department professors who had even taught many of present professors in NTNU passed away recently.&nbsp;</p> <p>The energetic performances also meant a lot to Chang Man-shu (張嫚書), the present theater actress who graduated from the English Department of NTNU five years ago.&nbsp;</p> <p>&quot;I am very honor to stand here again.&nbsp; Five years ago I was standing here at the same moment.&nbsp; It was just then I decided to go to America to study in acting,&rdquo; Chang said.&nbsp; &ldquo;I think comparing to the time I performed this time I saw lots of unexpected scenes, such as the scene in toilet, and the alluring scenes, and even the freshman have creative ideas.&rdquo;&nbsp;</p> <p>&nbsp;</p>
