Lee Teng-hui, Taiwan's Father of Democracy, Passed Away

The eighth and ninth president of the Republic of China and the alumni of the Taihoku High School, Former President Lee Teng Hui, died at Taipei Veterans General Hospital on July 30, 2020, age 98. The news shocked people all over the world. Leaders such as US Secretary of State Pompeo, Japanese Prime Minister Shinzo Abe, and current President Tsai Ing-wen all expressed their condolences. The history of former President Lee leading Taiwan to the road to democracy is quite an emotional one.

Tseng Yu Chien Master Class in 2020 NTNU Music Festival

Exceptional violinist Tseng Yu Chien, a silver medal winner of the 15th International Tchaikovsky Competition is in Taiwan during the pandemic. A master class was held on July 17th in the music hall of NTNU. The Music Department of NTNU plays an important role in the higher education in music. It is home to many well-know musicians that lead the music culture and the growth of education.

Dean of School of Learning Informatics Tsai Chin Chung awarded as the Honorary life-time National Chair Professor

The ceremony of the 23rd National Chair Professorships, the 2nd National Award for Distinguished Contribution to Industry-Academia Cooperation and the 63rd Academic Awards was held by the Ministry of Education on June 9th. Dean of School of Learning Informatics Tsai Chin Chung receives his second National Chair Professorship this year and was honored to be the Honorary life-time National Chair Professor.

Research from NTNU shows Scientific Chinese Medicine Can be Applied to Pets

With the phenomenon of declining birthrates, aging society, cats and dogs are treated as family members. It’s predicted that by the second half of this year, the number of cats and dogs in Taiwan will exceed that of children under 15. When there are more aged pets who may suffer from chronic diseases and common diseases of elder animals it is urgent to promote the care of aged pets.

President Wu Presents Flag to MTC Dragon Boat Team

Due to the impact of the epidemic, the dragon boat races this year in Taiwan have been scaled down. The MTC Dragon boat is composed of students from across the world but many foreign students cannot come to Taiwan this year. To continue the 44-year tradition, experienced teammates shouldered the responsibility and picked up the paddles again. President Wu Cheng Chih presented the flag to the captain Howard Hok Gay Li and encouraged the teammates in their last practice.
