Carle Bonafous-Murat


Carle Bonafous-Murat has been Professor at Sorbonne Nouvelle University since 2003. For two years, in 2008 and 2009, he ran a doctoral school in European studies, with a specific focus on English-speaking and German-speaking countries.
He is also a scholar in Irish literature in English and now in the field of the medical humanities.
From 2010 to 2014, he was in turn vice-president of the Board of Directors and vice-president of the Research Committee. In 2014, he was elected President of Sorbonne Nouvelle University, a position he held until 2018.
Within the Sorbonne Paris Cité cluster, he coordinated the group of 8 research vice-chairpeople, before being elected vice-president in charge of territorial coordination when SPC was awarded the Excellence Initiative label.
Within France Universités , he chaired for two years (2017 and 2018) the Committee for European Affairs.
In September 2019, he got appointed by France Universités as head of the Brussels office now located in the Maison Irène et Frédéric Joliot-Curie, where the conference shares premises with the main French higher education and research-performing operators.
