Yi-De Liu


Dr. Yi-De Liu assumed his current position as Vice President for International Affairs at National Taiwan Normal University in 2022. Since then, he has focused extensively on developing global partnerships, recruiting international students, and coordinating international student affairs. He studied French at National Central University as an undergraduate before receiving an MA in Diplomacy from National Chengchi University. He went on to earn a PhD in European Studies at the University of Portsmouth. Dr. Liu started teaching at the Institute of European Cultures and Tourism in 2010. During his 14-year academic career at NTNU thus far, he has served as Associate Vice President for International Affairs (2018-2021), Director of the Institute of European Cultures and Tourism (2013-2016), and Director of the French Center (2013-2016). He is also the acting Managing Supervisor of European Community Studies Association Taiwan and an editorial board member of the European Union Centre in Taiwan. The cultural policy of the EU is one of Dr. Liu’s primary research interests. He has been published more than 20 times in international journals and thrice recognized as a Distinguished Professor at NTNU. He was invited to be a visiting professor in France by the University of Angers and University of Burgundy, respectively. Professor Liu is fluent in English, French, and Mandarin Chinese.
