Guillaume Gellé


After a bachelor's degree and a master's degree in electronics, electrical engineering and automation, obtained at the University of Reims Champagne-Ardenne, Guillaume Gellé pursued a DEA (post-graduate diploma) in automation and digital signal processing at the INP of Lorraine in 1994. He defended his thesis in signal processing in 1998 at the URCA and obtained a habilitation to direct research (HDR) six years later.

His research interests include signal processing and decision making, digital communications, and information and communication theory. He is a professor of exceptional rank in the computer engineering, automatic control and signal processing section of the CNU (Conseil national des universités).

His involvement at the University of Reims Champagne-Ardenne (URCA)
After various responsibilities in Master's programmes or within his laboratory, CRESTIC, Guillaume Gellé was elected vice-president of the CEVU (Conseil des études et de la vie universitaire), in charge of training policy, student life and international relations at URCA, a position he held between 2007 and 2012. He was also scientific delegate to the AERES, then to the HCERES, from 2013 to 2016, in the department of training and degrees. In March 2016, he was elected president of the University Reims Champagne-Ardenne, and re-elected in 2020.
In May 2022, he was appointed member of the scientific orientation council of the Quai Branly-Jacques Chirac Museum by Roselyne Bachelot, then Minister of Culture, and Frédérique Vidal, then Minister of Higher Education, Research and Innovation.

His involvement in France Universités
A member of the CPU's Training and Professional Insertion Commission since 2016, he was elected to its presidency in December 2018. During these two years, he followed governmental measures structuring training and professional integration, such as the reform of the baccalaureate and those of general and professional licenses, the reform of access to health studies, the implementation of INSPE and new MEEF masters as well as the laws "Orientation and success of students" and "Freedom to choose one's professional future". He is also a member of the CNESER, president of the board of directors of the CINES and represents France Universités on the board of directors of GENCI. In December 2020, he was elected by his peers as vice-president of France Universités.

And at the General Assembly on 15 December 2022, he was elected president of France Universités, alongside two vice-presidents: Virginie Dupont, president of the Université Bretagne Sud and Dean Lewis, president of the Université de Bordeaux.

In their profession of faith as candidates, the three members of the Bureau propose "a programme to implement the orientations and proposals presented at the congress of 13 January 2022 as well as a change in the organisation of France Universités in line with these objectives".
