NTNU Sustainable Development Initiatives and Progress
National Taiwan Normal University (NTNU) uses the Sustainable Development Goals (SDGs) as a guiding framework and continues to advance sustainable governance across key areas of university operations, including institutional management, teaching and research, student life, and community engagement. NTNU seeks to strengthen regional and international partnerships and to deepen its social responsibility and positive impact. In addition, through annual self-assessments and continuous improvement, NTNU publishes sustainability and social responsibility reports and participates in international university rankings to enhance global visibility and competitiveness while fulfilling its responsibilities to society.
Professor Hsiang-Lin Liu is a Professor in the Department of Physics and Director of the Environmental and Public Safety Center at NTNU. His research focuses on the optical properties of low-dimensional semiconductors. He has held visiting appointments at institutions such as Kyushu University, University of Osaka, and Brookhaven National Laboratory. In his role as Director, he leads campus-wide initiatives related to environmental protection and public safety management. He previously served as Vice President for International Affairs at NTNU (2018–2021), supporting the university’s international engagement and partnerships. Professor Liu earned his Ph.D. in Physics from the University of Florida, U.S.A.
