FIBA Under-19 World Championship Report- Chien Wei-ju

After 24 years, Chinese Taipei had the chance to play on the world stage again. 12 national players represented Chinese Taipei to Latvia for the 10th FIBA. Four of the freshman players from NTNU who had great performances in the UBA this year were in the team.

Chien Wei-ju joined the basketball team as he entered junior high school. With the strict training of the coach and the lash of every game, he knew for sure basketball was what he wanted in his life. He was the star player in senior high school. However the first game in university, UBA, made him feel like he had lost his mind. “I played the game too careful and that made me feel very nervous and lost the tempo on the court,” said Chien Wei-ju. With the help of the senior players, he still honored with the third championships of UBA. He expected himself to have more personal performances and win the good result back.

Grew up in a free environment, with the family supports, and Chien’s optimistic attitude, he was very happy on his basketball road, and were also the motivation pushing him. From the high school shooting guard to the university point guard, Chien Wei-ju had lots of expectation toward his future and he would play better and better.
