Professor Wang Speech of Self Evaluation Series Workshop
NTNU Center of Teaching and Learning Development held a series of department self-evaluation workshop in summer vacation. On August 10th, Professor Wang Pao-chin from Higher Education Evaluation & Accreditation Council of Taiwan was invited to give a speech. Lots of teachers and students gathered in the library to listen to the spirit of education evaluation.
Professor Wang Pao-chin indicated that, “education evaluation is important, but not everyone have to participate in it. Only Korea use SCI (Science Citation Index, one of the database made by America Institute for Scientific Information) like us now. But out rate of citing the thesis is only 38%. We should learn from Philippines, although they had only about 700 theses, the rate of citing is 47%.”
The spirit of education evaluation was to provide students a good learning environment. The schools could know the features of the school more through evaluating themselves. Self-evaluation was a good way to keep the school condition in a high quality.
