MTC Director Chen Hao-jan Promoted Distance Education
NTNU Mandarin Teaching Center was the most famous Mandarin teaching center in Taiwan. The director of the center, professor Chen Hao-jan planned to develop Internet distance education in the future. Expected to be the best Mandarin Teaching Center continuously in Taiwan and educated more foreign students to learn Mandarin and eastern culture.
More and more overseas students came to learn Mandarin in Taiwan. NTNU MTC founded in 1956 was a language-training unit. About 1700 students around the world learn Mandarin in the center every season. Professor Chen indicated that there were 35 Mandarin teaching institutes in Taiwan. In order to make the students choose NTNU to study, MTC created an attracted learning environment, held a lot of culture experience activity, speech contest, and field trip. MTC hoped students could not only learn the knowledge in textbook, but also understand the culture from daily life.
MTC was actively connected with the international. “We would develop the Internet distance learning for the overseas students who wanted to learn Mandarin.” Said professor Chen. With the effort of MTC, Taiwan Mandarin teaching reputation had widely spread. Professor Chen also hoped Taiwanese students could interact with the foreign students to exchange both language and culture.
