International Citizen Accomplishment Research Publication

 The citizen accomplishment had long been the wrapped up issue. How high the Taiwanese citizen accomplishment actually was? NTNU center for educational research and evaluation held the ICCS2009 citizen accomplishment research publication on November 19th. Through test and evaluation, examined Taiwanese students’ citizen accomplishment level and phenomenon. Provide a new direction for civic education.

International Civic and Citizenship Education Study was held by International Association for the Evaluation of Education Achievement. 38 countries currently participated in the study. This was the first complete ICCS study Taiwan had ever involved. The research result showed that our students civic cognition stood the forth place but the civic activity participation needed improvement. Students supported the equal rights of different races stood the first place but the politics efficiency needed more efforts.

Citizen accomplishment differed from country to country. The research team published several theories to discussed Taiwanese students’ citizen accomplishment based on the examine result. Professor Liu Mei-hui from NTNU department of education indicated that the result showed our equal rights education emphasized more on the politics slogan declaration. The future education should emphasize more on this issue, promoted our civic education.
