The Third NTNU English Debate Contest

 

 
The 3rd NTNU English debate contest was held on March 24th morning. The contest was held by department of English. The topic of the contest was “The preferential policy applied to Taiwanese aboriginal students’ high school and college entrance exams should be abolished.
Eight teams in total participated in the contest, Engdabatable, AKIA, Avenger, debatresses, Kall, Swift, The Debate Saviors, and The champion of Debate contest.
Li Yung-le from department of English indicated that the team was formed three days before the contest, comparing to other teams, they lacked of the information. Huang Yu-feng and Liu Meng-hsian from department of English were in charge of the contest. Huang Yu-feng indicated that they arranged the contest since last semester. She hoped more students besides English department could participate in it.
Professor Chen Yan-hao from Nationa Taipei University department of foreign languages and applied linguistics was one of the judges. Professor Chen was also the director of center for international negotiations and interpretations and the vice president of Taiwan association of translation and interpretation. He indicated that the students had great performances in the contest but there was room for improvement either. He emphasized the contestants should make the points strong and simple.
