Taiwan Awards Silver Medal in International Young Physicists’ Tournament

 The Taiwan national team trained by NTNU and sponsored by Far Eastern Y. Z. Hsu Science and Technology Memorial Foundation participated in the 25th International Young Physicists’ Tournament (IYPT) in Germany and awarded the silver medal. It was the third time Taiwan participated in the tournament. Taiwan placed the 6th out of 28 participated countries.

The golden medal receivers were South Korea, Iran, and Singapore. South Korea and Singapore had great performances in the past few years. Iran defeated Singapore at the final and won the second place.
The Taiwan national team contestants were the leader Lin Yen Yu from Chang Hua, Hsu Yi Hsian from Hsin Chu, Hsu Yang from Chia Yi, and Huang Tsung Sheng and Chen Hsiuh Hung from Kaohsiung. They all had great performances in the Y.Z. Hsu Competition 4th Taiwan Young Student Physicists’ Tournament in March this year in order to be selected in the national team.
Far Eastern Y.Z. Hsu Science and Technology Memorial Foundation supported all the expenditures of the four month training and competition besides providing the high prize and promoting the competition. The leading teachers this time were director Kao Hsian Chung and professor Hsu Yung Yuan from NTNU Department of Physics. Dr. Huang Tung Ching took down the details of the game for the reference of holding the 26th tournament next year in Taiwan.
