The 2012 International Association of Empirical Aesthetics at NTNU

The first time the International Association of Empirical Aesthetics (IAEA) came to Taiwan, they chose NTNU as the site of conference. The meeting opened at August 22nd morning. 20 more scholars from different countries around the world gathered together for the academic discussion.

IAEA chose to hold in Japan in 2002. It was the first time ever held in Asian country. The 22nd IAEA opened ceremony was held on August 22nd at NTNU library campus. IAEA secretary Stefano Mastandrea indicated that a lot of people asked why did he devote himself to IAEA. He thought that the science of beauty included the activity in brain, and the result of the combination of art and social environment. It provided us the senses of feeling, sight, hearing, and thinking. To make us become a real human.
Professor Chen Chiung Hua from NTNU Department of Fine Arts hoped to strive for the chance to hold IAEA ever since she participated in the IAEA 2002 in Japan. She appreciated all the teachers and students who helped out in the activity and made it a success.
IAEA awarded the 2012 Fechner Award for scholars devoted to empirical aesthetics. The award receiver this year Paul J. Locher indicated happily that he appreciated the association gave him this award. He was attracted to the empirical aesthetics and he believed he would devote his life to it.
