Overseas Chinese from Thailand celebrate Songkran Festival

NTNU students form Thailand held celebrations on Friday ahead of the first day of Thailand's traditional Songkran Festival -- or as it's known in Chinese, the water-splashing festival. The three-day holiday marks the beginning of a new year on the traditional Thai calendar and is famous for the custom of splashing water on strangers as a blessing.

Friday's event was held by the Overseas Chinese Affairs Council, R.O.C. It featured events including Thai dancing and games to make overseas Chinese from Thailand feel more at home during the holidays.

Naturally, festivities ended with a traditional water fight, leaving the students literally dripping with excitement for the new year ahead.
