Artist Alumnae of NTNU Invited to France

The Ministry of Culture and La Cité internationale de la bande dessinée et de l'image cooperated a program that enables Taiwanese artist to stay in the city and do their work. The “Taste of the South:Zuoying” from artist 61Chi (Liu Yi Chi) and “Every Little Thing” from Chen Pei Hsiu. The two artists will go to Angoulême, a town in France, to stay at the author’s place and create their artwork for three months.
Liu Yi Chi goes with the name of 61Chi. She graduated from the College of Arts from NTNU. Although she is young at age, she is experienced in contests and holding exhibitions. Her first publication, room, published in2014, received the 8th International MANGA excellent award from the Ministry of Foreign Affairs of Japan and was one of the finalists of the 2015 Taipei Book Exhibition non-fiction genre. 61Chi attended the Angoulême International Comics Festival in 2012 and 2014. In 2014, she was part of the project of Taiwan and New Zeland graphic novel creation. What’s more, she is one of the artists that will go to Egon Schiele Art Centrum in Czech from June to August this year with the sponsor of the Ministry of Culture.
Chen Pei Hsiu graduated from the Department of Fine Arts, NTNU. She worked at Institute of History and Philology, Academia Sinica as an illustrator, but now Chen is a soho worker. Her works can be seen on magazines and she has published two graphic books. In 2015, her work “dentist” was one of the finalists of the Concours des Jeunes Talents.
The two artists will be granted the round ticket to France and allowance for three months. La Cité internationale de la bande dessinée et de l’image will provide accomodation and well-equipped studio for them. La Cité includes a museum, a heritage library, a specialized public library, a documentation centre, an international artists’ residence (la maison des auteurs), a high standard reference bookshop, a two-screen art house cinema, a technical multimedia support centre and a panoramic restaurant. The author’s place is for comic artists all around the world.
