NTNU Shines at Chinese Learning Technology
The goal of Chinese Language and Technology Center is to become a top-notch center for Mandarin teaching and research center, with cross-field integration in linguistics, physiology, learning technology and Assessment & Evaluation. Looking back in 2018, we have reached a breakthrough in the development of basic knowledge, learning platform and teaching method of Chinese teaching. The Chinese Language and Technology Center has actively expanded the new horizons of Chinese language technology. The platform for Chinese learning has been promoted to international schools and educational centers at home and abroad, including South Korea, Singapore, China, Hong Kong, Indonesia and Thailand.
The website, Cool Chinese Plus, launched by MTC, has the Chinese-speaking automatic diagnosis and teaching system for beginners (SmartPinyin), digital teaching material editing module (eMPOWER), Chinese language writing automatic scoring and feedback (AES-Han), and the Chinese adaptive assessment for reading recommendation system (SmartReading). Cool Chinese Plus is also functional on mobile devices, students can enjoy the fun of learning Chinese anytime, anywhere. So far, the accumulated number of users has exceeded 37,000. MTC hopes that Cool Chinese Plus can be used in schools but also in business. With the profit gained, the fund can be used for research and develop, forming a virtuous cycle.
