Love Is the Answer For Difficulties, NTNU President Says

<p><font face="Arial">By Angeline Sun<br /> Campus Reporter</font></p> <p><font face="Arial">To be a good teacher is about giving, caring and loving, National Taiwan Normal University (NTNU) President Gou Yih-shun (郭義雄) said during his speech at the auditorium on the main campus this morning.</font></p> <p><font face="Arial">&quot;Without love, you would not care about other people.&nbsp; If you do not care about others, how can you become a qualified teacher?&rdquo; Gou said.</font></p> <p><font face="Arial">The president emphasized the importance of love and support by mentioning his family life.&nbsp; He said that his son would hug and kiss him whenever he arrives at home after a tough day at work.&nbsp; That would re-initiate him and make him continue on whatever he is doing.</font></p> <p><font face="Arial">&quot;My son&rsquo;s love and support made me what I am today,&rdquo; Gou said.</font></p> <p><font face="Arial">Gou seems to take advantage of the love he receives from his family and elevate that spirit to all NTNU students.&nbsp; As a focal university featuring solid and complete teacher training courses, he said, NTNU needs to cultivate teachers and teachers-to-be who are not only excellent in teaching but also full of love.</font></p> <p><font face="Arial">In addition to love people, Gou also encouraged NTNU students to continue their connections with the flow of the world from time to time.</font></p> <p><font face="Arial">&quot;The world is moving forward.&nbsp; We, as teachers or teachers-to-be, cannot fall behind the trend,&rdquo; he said.</font></p> <p><font face="Arial">In the meantime, Gou also offered his promise to students that he would pay more attention to hiring more qualified instructors for the university and balance the length of different classes during the Q and A period of his speech.</font></p> <p><font face="Arial">Zhang Hua-en (張華恩), an Applied Electronics Technology major freshman, said that his General Education teacher asked everyone in his class to sign in for the president&rsquo;s speech today as part of the class requirement.&nbsp; He was not expecting it to be an interesting one but was eventually inspired by the president.</font></p> <p><font face="Arial">&quot;I saw his (Gou) ambition and vigor toward the school, which was quite encouraging,&rdquo; Zhang said.</font></p> <p><font face="Arial"><br /> </font>&nbsp;</p>
