Rainer Schmidt: Paralympics Table Tennis Gold Medal Winner

Father Rainer Schmidt, noted German table tennis player who lost both of his arms when he was little, came to NTNU on October 17th to share his experiences on his journey from a physically challenged man to a Paralympics table tennis gold medal winner. Schmidt was born with multiple disabilities: he was colour blind and only had a leg of all limbs at birth. Many social welfare groups came to pay respect to Schmidt, including the president of the Chinese Association of the Mentally and Physically Challenged as well as a disabled painter, Huang Mei-Lian, who gave Schmidt her painting.
