2017 Taiwan-Thailand Forum for Smarter Cities

The 2017 Taiwan-Thailand Forum on Mutual Cooperation on Economics, Trade and Technology was held by the Office of International Affairs on October 25th in NTNU. Thai scholars from Digital Economy Promotion Agency, Ministry of Digital Economy and Society were invited to share their thoughts on high technology and smart city.

Preparatory Courses for Foreign Students at DPP

As the trend of learning Mandarin has swept across the globe, the Division of Preparatory Programs has now take it to the next level so that more and more people can come to appreciate the beauty of Mandarin. Starting from October, with an aim to strengthen the cooperation with ASEAN countries, 4 weeks of preparatory course is available for foreign students, including the culture, travel vocabulary, food, songs and movies in Mandarin.

Pennsylvania State University Visited NTNU for Cooperation

Vice Provost for Global Programs, Michael Adewumi, Director of Global Engagement Martin Trethewey, Professor Rose Lee‐Yong Tan and other administrators from Pennsylvania State University visited NTNU on October 26th. A luncheon was held for Pennsylvania State University (PSU) alumni and Vice President Wu Cheng Chih. On October 27th, the administrators met with Vice President Sung Yao Ting to discuss the benchmarking policy.

Oversea Internship to Internationalization

In recent years, the ranking of NTNU has been rising in The Times Higher Education World University Rankings and QS University Rankings. It's our priority to raise students in an International environment. The Office of Teacher Education and Career Service has sent 101 students abroad for their internship in 2017. 41 of them are pre-service teachers that went to educational institutes and 36 of them attended business internships. In addition, 24 students were sent to institutes in Indonesia, Thailand, Vietnam and Malasia in responding to the New Southbond Policy.

Student from the Dept. of Industrial Education Grabbed 2 Gold in WorldSkills

Chen Min Heng from the Department of Industrial Education won the gold medal in automobile technology and Best of Nation in WorldSkills Competition, also known as tradie Olympics. This is the second Gold medal of Taiwan since 1997. In addition, Chen also received the Gold medal of Best of Nation and this is the best total score in different categories of Taiwan since 1970.
