Department of East Asian Studies Moving Forward to the New Academy Era
The unveiling ceremony of department of East Asian studies took place on August 4th in NTNU Linkou division. The chief of NTNU national alumni association and the Legislative Yuan Wang Chin-ping, the dean of college of international studies and educational for overseas Chinese Pan Chao-yang, and the director of department of East Asian Studies Tsai Chang-yen attended the ceremony. The department of East Asian Culture and Development and the graduate institute of International Sinology Studies officially combined.
The chief Wang Chin-ping indicated that the unveiling ceremony had important meaning. Through the combination of teaching resources, having both teaching and researching would combine to a strong competitive power. Principal Chang Kuo-en also indicated that combing teaching resources was a trend. He expected NTNU had features in different area.
The dean Pan Chao-yang expected that through the combination, DEAS could become the head of East Asia research. The combination was from down to up. The teachers in the department proposed the idea and arranged the whole program. DEAS was the first combining department in NTNU and it symbolized the new academy era.
