Taiwanese Italian Soprano Chu Tai-li Employed as NTNU Lecture Professor

Being honored as the “Eastern Callas”, the international famous soprano Chu Tai-li accepted NTNU principal Chang Kuo-en’s lecture contract, to teach in NTNU for three weeks. Besides teaching the singing techniques, she hoped students could pay more attention on the exterior.

Professor Chu Tai-li studied in Italy at the age of 16. Graduated from Accademia Nazionale di Santa Cecilia, Roma at the age of 22 and started to perform in Europe. Her annotation, technique, and style of her voice had outstanding performances in opera. She awarded National Culture and Arts Award at the young age of 34. Accumulated over 30 years, 500 performances experiences. NTNU students could gain a lot under her teaching.

Chu Tai-li was invited by the National Symphony Orchestra back to Taiwan to celebrate the 25th anniversary. The anniversary performance would be hold at National Music Hall on September 17th. Chu Tai-li would be singing the famous songs by Puccini and Giuseppe Verdi. She indicated that after singing abroad for 40 years, from performing to teaching now, her best wish was to teach Taiwanese students. She hoped to pass down her experiences to Taiwanese students.
