Explorer Kana Tadao Documentary Premiere in NTNU
The “In the Woods-Kana Tadao” documentary filmed by Academia Historica and NTNU premiere at NTNU Cheng 101 on September 19th. Crowd gathered to review the splendid life of Kana Tadao and his academic research achievements.
The manager of Academia Historica Lu Fang-shang, NTNU principal Chang Kuo-en, Taiwan e-Learning and Digital Archives Program anchorman professor Liu Ching-yi, and department of Taiwanese culture professor Yang Nan-chun were invited to deliver a speech, discuss the meaning and purpose of the documentary.
Kana Tadao was the Japanese scholar in Taiwan during the period of Japanese occupation. Born in Tokyo in 1906. He liked mountain climbing, collected insects. He came to Taiwan to collect specimens when he was a junior student and that changed his life. He went to several undiscovered places in Taiwan. Build up the biology field research. He did research on aboriginal culture and had remarkable contribution. The premiere was in NTNU because Kana Tadao once studied in Taipei High School (former NTNU).
The film last 50 minutes and was filmed in Snow Mountain, where Kana Tadao explored several times. Through the film, we could see his passion to Taiwan Mountain.
