Feng Yi-kang Decode Creativity and Humor

NTNU creative workshop and department of English held the associated lecture. Master of comic talk show Feng Yi-kang was invited to talk about comic talk show and share the creativity and humor with students on October 11th.

“I always think the purpose of life is to enjoy our life. The happiest man needs to possess five things below. Lived in the English build house; with the American made pipe; hired a Chinese cook; merry a Japanese wife; and have a French girlfriend.” Feng Yi-kang quoted the passage in “Lin Yu-tang commentary” to explain the essence of humor. Humor was from the speaker’s tongue and the listener’s ear. The audiences experience combined in the performances and ferment through the plot. He shared his ideas of comic show talk were from reading, life experiences, family background, and improvisation.

As a performer, Feng Yi-kang cited the “Lin Yu-tang commentary” passage “We know we would die one day. We would light out like a candle. This is a very good thing, to make us calm, and maybe depressed. Many people lived their life poetically. The most important thing is, although we know there’s an end in life, we still live it wisely.” He encouraged students that it was because there was an end in life, we should therefore be positive to life.
