Fan Cheng-chi Received Honorary Academic Award
The kind, sophisticated, energetic retired professor Fan Cheng-chi received the honorary academic award from Minister of Ministry of Education Wu Ching-chi on November 16th for his contribution to physic education.
Ministry of Education authorized NTNU physic education research and development center to hold the 100-year school outstanding physic education group and personal award ceremony. Professor Fan came to Taiwan from China when he was 20 something. He studied in department of physic education and was the first-year graduated students. He chose to stay in NTNU after he graduated, started from a teaching assistance to the professor. He accompanied NTNU for over 60 years. His exquisite skills in ball games and special way of teaching got him the name of Master. He specialized in martial arts, physic education history, thought, philosophy, training, and rules research.
Talking about his students, professor Fan always had the satisfied smile on his face. Committee chairmen of Sports Affairs Council Chao Li-yun and Tai Hsia-ling, vice principal Lin Tong-tai and Cheng Chi-fu were all his students. He devoted in translating each sports rule and popularized sports. He was the vice editor of the first “Sports Dictionary”. He indicated that he appreciated to receive the award. He concerned every kind of sports education and development. The environment and equipment were advanced; he expected the juniors in NTNU could build up the new physic education world.
