American Institute in Taiwan Ryan Roberts Decrypt Cultural Melting Pot

What would you think of when the topic comes to United States of America? The worldwide spread NBA or the American Idol Stars? The international education lecture held by office of international affairs on November 14th invited director of American Institute in Taiwan Ryan Roberts to decrypt the American culture under the public diplomacy!

Ryan Roberts was born in Wisconsin, USA. He became the American diplomacy since 2004, was once dispatched to China and Latvia each four years. He stayed in the mid-south of Taiwan in 1996 to 1998, became the director of AIT this year. The job was to forward the educational institute cooperation and exchange chance between USA and Taiwan. “Many people think United States is a melting pot, but I don’t think so,” said Ryan Roberts. Perhaps United States referred to NBA, American Idol, CSI series, and McDonald. But these were a part of American culture. Different cultural people reacted differently to different things.

Many audiences brought out the questions between Taiwan and China; Ryan Roberts thought this was the problem between Taiwan and China only. “Although we can’t foreknow the future between two sides, I believe things will go the better way. At the same time, United States government will assist when needed instead of intervened.”
