Educational Experts and Scholars Participated in NTNU 12 Years National Curriculum Seminar

 NTNU Office of Teacher Education and Career Service held the 12 years national curriculum seminar on May 12th. The host Lin Chen-yung pointed out that the biggest revolution on Taiwan’s education system in the past 50 years was the 9 years national curriculum. The 12 years national curriculum was more complicated and would affect more students than the 9 years national curriculum. Therefore, every detail should be concerned to come up with the great resolution and result. 

The seminar invited Professor Wang Li-yun from NTNU Department of Education to talk about did 12 years national curriculum diminished student’s burden or increased student’s pressure. She pointed out that whether the 12 years national curriculum could even the educational chance and helped students from the lower classes or not was the important idea of 12 years national curriculum. Professor Wang graduated from NTNU Department of Education and received the Ph. D from Harvard University. Her specialism was education policy. From her observation of the current education system in Taiwan, Taiwan tried to do too much things in so little time. She took Finland as an example to point out that we should gradually revise out education system. 
The seminar followed up with several lectures and discussions mainly on how to improve the current education system. The 12 years national curriculum still had a long way to go.
