Professor Lai Mei Ling and Vice Professor Chen Hsiao Fen from Department of Music visited Greece from July 15th to 20th to participate in The 30th International Society for Music Education World Conference (ISME). ISAME was originated by University of Florida Department of Music in 2007. It was held biennially. University of Florida arranged to cooperate with NTNU to hold the 4th ISAME due to our excellent music education in the past years. The activity was going to hold at NTNU and was sponsored by Bureau of Foreign Trade, Ministry of Economic Affairs. As ISME was holding in Greece, NTNU set a stand for ISAME to promote the activity to the thousands of participants from 59 countries. It successfully attracted the music teachers around the world to visit Taiwan.
ISME held the National Meeting for participants to discuss before electing the new president and committee. The meeting this year allowed Taiwan to participate with the name “Taiwan, ROC” and voted with this name.
The topic of the 4th ISAME was “Music Assessment and Global Diversity: Practice, Measurement, and Policy” It emphasized on the importance of music education and globalization. The lecturers included Professor Richard Colwell, Professor Pamela Burnard, and Professor Sung Yao Ting from NTNU. It was the second time for Professor Colwell to be the lecturer in ISAME. He was the master of music education in United States. The meeting would go as lectures, theory publication, poster publication, round table forum, and workshop.
