NTNU Center for Educational Research and Evaluation Enhanced the Education Opportunity and Quality for Disadvantaged Students
NTNU Center for Educational Research and Evaluation promoted the program “Education Opportunity and Quality Enhancement for Disadvantaged Students” with 10s of professors from university and 40s teachers and principals from junior high schools since 2010, the program had covered 35 junior high schools this year from Taipei to Kao Hsiung and Ping Tung. With the faith of “Don’t give up on any student”, the program had guided 620 disadvantaged students in Taiwan to the right track of life. The program held the sharing press at NTNU on the 14th of January to share their experience in the program.
Professor Chen Hsiao Lan from NTNU Department of Education was the chairman of the program. She indicated that one of the goals of the program was to give teachers a chance to really understand kids, to develop the suitable teaching materials for students and assist students to learn.
“Education Opportunity and Quality Enhancement for Disadvantaged Students” were hold by NTNU Center for Educational Research and Evaluation and Media Tek Educational Foundation. The team spent three years to develop the teaching materials and make the experiment. So far, they had completed the Chinese Mandarin and Mathematic teaching materials and were spreading the methods. The Chinese Mandarin teacher who participated in the program indicated that through the program, the teachers had the chances to exchange experiences and come up with new idea.
