NTNU makes Asia's top 100 university list

National Taiwan Normal University ranks number 68 among Asian universities this year, making it one of a total 17 Taiwanese universities in the Asia's top 100, according to Times Higher Education (THE). THE released its first-ever Asia University Rankings on Wednesday.

THE's report shows that Japanese institutions continue to lead Asia's higher education, but the report makes a particular note that other countries in Asia, including Taiwan, are “hot on Japan's heels.”

The rankings assess higher education institutions based on 13 criteria, including teaching environment, number of research projects, citations, industry income, and international outlook, among others.

Of Taiwan's 17 universities to make the top 100, National Taiwan University   ranks highest at number 14 in Asia. The other Taiwanese universities to make the list National Tsing Hua University (國立清華大學), National Chiao Tung University (國立交通大學), National Sun Yat-sen University (國立中山大學), National Cheng Kung University (國立成功大學), National Taiwan University of Science and Technology (國立台灣科技大學), National Central University (國立中央大學), China Medical University Taiwan (中國醫藥大學), Yuan Ze University (元智大學), Chung Yuan Christian University (中原大學), National Taiwan Ocean University (國立臺灣海洋大學), National Chung Cheng University (國立中正大學), National Yang-Ming University (國立陽明大學), National Chung Hsing University (國立中興大學), Feng Chia University (逢甲大學), and National Taipei University of Technology (國立台北科技大學).

The top five universities in Asia are the University of Tokyo, the National University of Singapore, the University of Hong Kong, Peking University, and Pohang University of Science and Technology, Korea.
