Young Inventors at International Exhibition for Young Inventor
International Exhibition for Young Inventor had been held from November 16th to 18th in New Taipei City Hall. There were 107 inventions from 8 countries and areas exhibited in this event. More than 500 students and teachers joined the exhibition. President Ma, Lin Teng Chiao from the Ministry of Education, Hou Yu Ih, the Vice Mayer of New Taipei City, and Chang Guo En, the President of NTNU all attended the opening ceremony and welcomed out guests abroad.
The International Exhibition for Young Inventor was initiated by the Japan Institute for Promoting Invention and Innovation in 2004. The International Forum of Intellectual Property (IFIP) was founded in November 2003 in Tokyo, under the initiation of the Japan Institute of Invention and Innovation (JIII). During this conference, members decided to hold an annual International Exhibition for Young Inventors (IEYI) as a S&T’s effort for the young generation. Unlike other exhibition for inventors, all member countries or areas take turns to hold the exhibition. There are teachers and students from Hong Kong, Macau, Indonesia, Japan, Malaysia, Singapore, Thailand and Vietnam. The participants are children and teenager between 6 to 19 years old
This year, participants under 14 mostly joined the category of “Education & Recreation”. The Japanese team invented something that can move the robot arm and help the evacuation of people or objects. In the category of “Safety & Health”, the Thailand team designed a safety locker that is rust free. The locker is made of steel, which won’t corrode.
Participants over 14 have paid more attention to “Green Technology” and “Technology for Special Needs”. Nearly 30 works have joined the competition. The Indonesia team invented an ASYVO Technology Home Security System and the owner of the house can have control over smart phones.
Taiwanese teenager showed great creativity on the category of “Foods & Agriculture”. Ne-Shin Elementary School student invented a watering system that can serve water to different plants equally.
Students from Kaohsiung Municipal Kaohsiung Industrial High School focus on the food crisis and though of a system that kills bacteria by solar power which saves energy. There are also many new inventions in “Green Technology”.
Team from Private Nanshan Senior High School invented a green house. Another team from Kaohsiung Municipal Kaohsiung Industrial High School designed a wifi-connected smart trash can.
