1st International Arts Olympiad-Taiwan Ends Happily

The 1st International Arts Olympiad-Taiwan, R.O.C. is organized by the National Taiwan Normal University Fine Arts Department under the supervision of the K-12 Education Administration, Ministry of Education, Taiwan, R.O.C ended on August 19th.

Based on the core concept of “students’ artistic and aesthetic values,” it is hoped that through cultural exchanges and collaborative works between different countries, both domestic and international students will gain new insights. We hope to strengthen students’ global perspective and increase the opportunities for personal growth through this unique experience, thus expanding their visions on art and aesthetic education.

Any artistically talented student from 10th to 12th grade in the Asia-Pacific countries is eligible to apply. Applicants should have a good understanding of English. Students may apply to one of the three categories: Fine Art, Music, or Dance. Each category is subjected to a maximum of 30 spaces with a total of 90 admission quotas.

The event is from August 15th to 19th, during which students can work with teams for around the world. Keynote speech, welcome parties, cultural nights and visiting activities. Students compete with each other while sharing creative ideas, this is a really rewarding event for both students and organizers. 

Professor Chen Chiung Hua and Prof. Huang Chin Lung are program manager. This is the first time for Taiwan to host an international friendly arts competition. Talented high school students around the world would gather and learn from each other. There are three categories, arts, music and dance, and in total 90 students are selected. 

The association has particularly invited juries to choice one gold, two silver and three bronze winners and 5 special awards in each group. Those who attend everyday will receive a certificate after the event was over. 

 

The Director-General of K-12 Education Administration, Huang, Tzu Teng, said that the participants are the embodiment of young people’s passion and love to arts, this is how the society will improve. The theme of the event is “artistic and aesthetic values of future artists”. The students will become top leaders in all artistic field who are compassionate about the society. It’s important for them to care social issues and the land they live in. We also take students to Taipei 101, National Palace Museum and Huashan 1914 Creative Park to showcase them the artistic side of Taiwan.
