Team from NTNU Grabbed Gold Metal from Hong Kong Invention Expo

Taiwan delegation participated in the "2016 Hong Kong Inno Design Tech Expo", grabbing 41 gold, 21 silver and 15 special prize. The total score of Taiwan delegation has remain the highest for three consecutive years. The team from the graduate institute of Electro-optical Science and Technology developed a non-invasive and non-consumable detective technology of orchid disease. This can not only be used for orchid but any other plants. The invention won a gold medal and a special prize.
Taiwan's orchid biotechnology development and industry is one of the best in the world. Currently, the orchid disease detection involves biochemical molecular detection technology and need destructive examination which increases the risk of infection. The team led by Prof. Chieh Jen Jie have developed a non-invasive technique that has already got the patent in Taiwan and is applying for the patent in US.
A total of 13 countries with more than 100 entries entered Hong Kong Inno Design Tech Expo this year. The total score of Taiwan has been on top for three consecutive years. Wu Chih Yao, head of the Chinese Innovation and Invention Society said that the Hong Kong Trade Development Council (HKTDC) authorized Taiwan in 2014 to be the organizer of the "Inno Design Tech Expo" competition. Taiwan has made remarkable achievements in various exhibitions over the years. In recent years, Taiwan has received a number of orders for its exhibitions, and it has also won the recognition around the world.
