Tang from NTNU Won Gold from FIG Artistic Individual Apparatus World Cup

Tang Chia Hung, student of NTNU and athlete of Chinese Taipei Team bring honor from the FIG Artistic Individual Apparatus World Cup in March 24th, breaking the record of Chinese Taipei.

The FIG Artistic Individual Apparatus World Cup was held in Qatar. In the first qualifying round, Tang was proven qualified as he was ranked 2nd. On the final round on 24th, he defeated other athletes from Kazakhstan, Romania or Japan and was awarded the gold medal of the men's floor exercise.

Tang is an all-around player in the gymnastic world of Taiwan, which is rare. Now he is a sophomore at the Department of Athletic Performance NTNU. When he was a teenager, he has been joining international competition representing Taiwan. He joined the 2012 Asian Youth Athletics Championships and brought back the bronze medal at vaulting horse and in 2014, he won the bronze medal at the Gymnasiade. Although he has undergone three elbow surgeries in high school, he continues his hard work and finally grabbed the medal with his passion for gymnastics.

After years of effort and preparation, this gold medal has brought encouragement and joy to Taiwan. The 2017 Summer Universiade is going to be held in Taipei, Tang is also one of the team of Chinese Taipei. We truly hope that the athletes can keep up the good work and bring honor in the 29th Summer Universiade.
