Hong Kong Baptist University Signed MOU with NTNU
President Roland T. Chin of Hong Kong Baptist University, one of the most prestigious universities in Asia, came to NTNU with 14 administrators and Deputy Director Hsu Ruei Hong of Taipei Economic and Cultural Office. Prof. Chin signed the MOU with President Chang.
Hong Kong Baptist University is a publicly funded tertiary institution with a Christian education heritage. It was established as Hong Kong Baptist College with the support of American Baptists, who provided both operating and construction funds and personnel to the school in its early years. It became Hong Kong Baptist University in 1994. At present, HKBU has enrolled over 10,000 students and offers a wide range of undergraduate programmes, taught postgraduate programmes, and research programmes leading to the award of MPhil and PhD degrees.
There are many similarities between NTNU and Hong Kong Baptist University. Both schools boast holistic education and internationalization. In addition to providing English teaching courses, NTNU is home to many international students who want to learn Chinese. After 6 months of learning, they can speak Chinese, know more about Taiwanese culture and make friends with locals. Around 8,000 international students are studying Chinese here at the Mandarin Training Center. NTNU is an important promoter of promoting Chinese language education. We offer teachers and students an international and very high quality environment.
Hong Kong Baptist University and NTNU have been close. Since year 2015, the School of Communication of Hong Kong Baptist University has signed an academic agreement with the College of International and Social Science Studies, both sides kept in-depth exchanges and visits, which contributes to the expansion of exchanges this year.
Now there are more than 100 student from Hong Kong studying at NTNU. Teachers and students from these two universities will surly benefit from this cooperation.
