Christmas Party on Campus for Foreign Students
In order to enhance campus internationalization and promote cultural exchanges among international students, National Taiwan Normal University held "2017 Christmas Party - Beautiful Times, Retro Nostalgia" on the evening of December 15. It was held by Mandarin Teaching Center and the Office of International Affairs for the first time, attracting nearly a thousand foreign students flooded the auditorium.
Game stalls for marble-playing, bottle-hanging and other games were set up and ramune, traditional snacks and popcorn were given to students. MTC students, international students and student from NTNU prepared many great shows. LCD TV, tablet, variable speed and other gifts were provided for prize draw.
Each year, more than 5,000 foreigners from more than 70 countries come to MTC to study Chinese. MTC is the most distinguished Chinese learning institute in Taiwan. It not only shoulders the mission of helping students to learn and make good use of Chinese, but also help more people understand the Chinese culture and experience the beauty of Taiwan. The Office of International Affairs is a unit to integrate international cooperation and international student-related businesses. It is an important unit for the exchange of students, international student applications, counseling and exchange activities. The event, co-operated by the MTC and OIA, attracted a large number of international students. The party is free of admission, students wearing polka dot dress can also get a small gift.
The event was held in the auditorium, which was established in 1929 as a lecture hall for Taipei Advanced High School during the Japanese colonial period. The auditorium reminds people of Taiwan's early years and the theme of the event is Taiwan’s early days. There are two entry at the front door which is similar to a western church. International students can feel the joy of Christmas while they are in Asia.
