Pre-service teachers went to UBC for Practice Teaching

The University of British Columbia (UBC) is a public research university with campuses and facilities in Vancouver and Kelowna, British Columbia. Established in 1908, UBC is British Columbia's oldest institution of higher learning. The university is ranked among top 20 public universities worldwide and top two in Canada. UBC has close relationship with NTNU. The Office of Teacher Training and Career Service has been promoting the in practice teaching of pre-service teachers. In 2017, eight pre-service teachers have gone to UBC for a two-week practice teaching; three pre-service teachers from UBC have come to Taiwan and finished their practice teaching. Some significant result has shown to those who finish their practicum.
Both sides keep promoting exchange program for pre-service teachers. This year, four students from all different departments have the chance to be at the actual teaching field of Canada, learn about the education system and give a pilot teaching at a 2-week internship from March 29th to April 15th under the arrangement of the University of British Columbia. Byrne Creek Community School, Edith Cavell Elementary school were part of the schools that offer an internship.
One student Su Yu Chun said that when he introduced Taiwan on stage, the students talked to him in Chinese confidently, he felt a sense of achievement. Another student Tai Kuan said that he found students can choose courses that interest them and he was amazing by teachers in Canada that not only teach what's on textbooks but ask students to make presentations, tell them how to learn. Student Tseng I Tzu said that the education system of Taiwan and Canada is nothing like two peas in a pod. Students in Canada enjoy the freedom and flexibility to learn. Student Chen Yu Wen said that students spend lots of time on books.  T
NTNU has been promoting the in practice teaching of pre-service teachers since 2014. Until 2017, we have sent 54 excellent pre-service teachers to Japan, Singapore, China, Myanmar and Canada. They have earned valuable experience by visiting other schools, know about the coursed of various countries and how they do it in classrooms, and gain a global vision as well as international mobility.
In 2018, NTNU will continue sending students to Canada, Sweden, Japan, Singapore, Indonesia, Vietnam, China and Hong Kong for various teaching practices that last from 2 weeks to 6 months with regard to enhancing the professional skill and international mobility of pre-service teachers.
