Lin Kan Yu and teammate Win Bronze at Poomsae in Asian Games 2018
In the women's team taekwondo poomsae event at the 2018 Asian Games in Indonesia, the team of Taiwan of Lin Kan Yu, Chen Yi Hsuan and Chen Hsiang Ting, brought us a bronze in the match with the Thai at the semi-final. After the game, Lin said that "We sure wanted to have high scores, but after we defeated the opponent, we told ourselves to do our best and we have got the medal!"
This year, TaekWonDo Poomsae is officially one of the categories in Asian Games. Chen Ching won a bronze medal in the men's individual taekwondo poomsae competition first, and the women's team also received a bronze. After they defeated the Nepals, they came across Thailand in the afternoon at their semi-finals and lost by 7.650 to 7.950. President Joko Widodo of Indonesia also came to watch the game.
Chen said that she was pretty nervous before the game, but she was fully confident on stage and performed as well as expected. Although they didn't get a gold medal this year, she believed that the team of Taiwan will get better results in the years to come.
The members of Poomsae team have known each other for almost two years since the training for 2017 Taipei Universiade. After the game, they won't be training together but they will all work hard for the World Championship at the end of the year.
Taekwondo Poomsae is the style of conduct which expresses directly of indirectly mental and physical refinements as well as the principles of offense and defense resulting from cultivation of Taekwondo spirit and techniques.
