NTNU-UCLA Taiwan Studies Initiative Reception for Graduate Students

 
The NTNU-UCLA Taiwan Studies Initiative Reception was held in July at the Department of English by Dean Chern Chiou Lan, Director Nikky Lin, Prof. Shih Hsiao Feng and Prof. Chang Miao Hsia. They met with four students from UCLA and discussed about their plan in Taiwan. 
 
The University of California, Los Angeles(UCLA) is a public research university in Los Angeles. It became the Southern Branch of the University of California in 1919, making it the fourth-oldest of the 10-campus University of California system. It offers 337 undergraduate and graduate degree programs in a wide range of disciplines. 
 
The NTNU- UCLA Taiwan Studies Initiative started in 2017 and was signed by the College of Liberal Arts. It's a three year academic cooperation, both universities offer three spots to each other's school for further studies and research. 
 
Our students from the Department of Chinese, Department of English and the Department of Taiwan Culture, Languages and Literature went to UCLA and those from the states are from Asian Language studies, Art History, History and Drama.  At the reception, scholarship recipients talked about their experience studying in America and their plans in Taiwan as well as the academic resources they can get from the university. The students will stay in Taiwan for 1.5 to 6 months. The visiting students will be invited to workshops or seminars for further communication between local and international students.
