Education of NTNU at 31st in QS World University Rankings by Subject 2020

The latest QS World University Rankings by Subject 2020 was announced by Quacquarelli Symonds on March 5th. Three subjects from NTNU are within top 100 of the world, they are Library and Information Management, ranked at 50th, Education ranked at 31st and linguistics, ranked at 51~100. This is an embodiment of NTNU’s work on Internationalization and cross disciplinary collaboration. Traditional subject is reinforced with latest technology, making NTNU full of academic energy.
According to Executive Vice President Sung Yao Ting, over the years, NTNU has focused on Humanities and Social Science and QS values reputation of a university. Therefore, two strategies were developed, one is to be Internationalized in academic research. We encourage teachers to cohost research studies with foreign scholars. Second, we encourage students and teachers to go abroad to visit oversea universities like UCLA, Penn state, Kyusyu University and invite foreign scholars to come.
Executive Vice President Sung also believes that the cross discipline integration is also the reason for the rise of the ranking, not only in Artificial intelligence, Virtual Reality, Augmented Reality in education but also speech recognition in Chinese teaching.
QS World University Rankings covers 48 subjects in 5 fields and is based on four indicators: academic peer review, employer reputation, citations per faculty and H-index. About 1368 universities from 83 countries and regions are included in this ranking. 11 subjects in NTNU made it to the list. The subject of education has rise from 43rd to 31st. The scores of academic reputation and H index are much higher than last year, hence the overall score is better. Arts and Humanity is the best field, ranked in 222nd and second in Taiwan. 
In respond to this, President Wu Cheng Chih stated that the ranking is only a part of the mission of the school. In the future, NTNU will continue to strive to achieve even higher levels of educational and academic excellence and establish the finest campus environment for learning and research. For the benefit of society, NTNU will continue to cultivate leading talent and improve the construction of campus.
