NTNU Experience Share in The Taiwan-UK Virtual Higher Education Delegation 2020

 

 

 

Executive President Frank Yung-Hsiang Ying participated The Taiwan-UK Virtual Higher Education Delegation 2020 online and share NTNU experience with President of the University of Liverpool, President of the University of Nottingham. During covid-19, NTNU welcomes foreign students and provide them with care. NTNU is also equipped with remote education facilities. This is both a challenge and an opportunity for higher education to work on the quality of remote education.

The online forum was organized by Foundation for International Cooperation in Higher Education of Taiwan, Universities UK International, British Council Taiwan and Taipei Representative Office in the UK. It was scheduled at NTNU in September but was postponed to December 7th to 9th online.

The list of participates is as follows: Lio Mon Chi, Political Deputy Minister of Ministry of Education, Representative of Taipei Representative Office in the UK Hsieh Wu Chiao, Representative of British Office Taipei Catherine Nettleton, Chairperson, Foundation for International Cooperation in Higher Education of Taiwan and President of National Cheng Kung University Su Huey Jen, Dame Janet Beer, Vice Chancellor, University of Liverpool, Shearer West, Vice-Chancellor and President, University of Nottingham and Nicky Old, Director of External Relations, Universities UK.

The topic of session 1 is The Impact of the Covid-19 Pandemic on Higher Education. Executive President Ying compared Covid-19 to the Great Depression in 1930. He talked about the close cooperation between the government in Taiwan and higher education institutions. When foreign students enter Taiwan, we provide them with quarantine dorm and remote course. According to the questionnaire distributed to teachers and students, most of them are positive about the remote course. In the future, NTNU will keep developing the software and hardware of remote education to better serve all needs.
