Double Major Available in NTU System Starting in 2021

 

Since NTU System established in 2014, the interaction of teacher and students between the three universities has risen. Since 2017, students are allowed to enroll for intercollegiate programs in NTU System. Since 2019, students are allowed to take minors in NTU System. The students shown positive feedback and the spots for each departments raised every year. Since 2021, double majors at NTU and NTNU became available to students. The number has shown significant increase, from 2,535 in 2015 to 7,481 in 2020. Over the past 6 years, 33,279 participants have attended course from a different university.

Vice President of Academic Affairs Liu Mei Hui said that through cross university courses, student can meet and learn with people from different universities. Cross disciplinary and creative people are very much needed in this new era. Students can enroll in courses that are not available in their home university.

The schools in NTU Systems excel in different fields of study. In the past 3 years, 48 departments welcome students to take double major and minor from another university. In NTNU, there are courses in Education, Special Education, Design, Performing Arts etc; in NTU, there are course in Mechanical Engineering, Chemical Industry, Humanity, Society, etc., and National Taiwan University of Science; in NTUST, there are course in Construction Engineering, Finance, Intellectual Property Rights Degree Programs. A total of 186 student are qualified to enroll intercollegiate double major and minor. In addition, since 2017, students can apply to direct-entry PhD programs in NTU System, which fulfills the goal of collaboration and source-sharing between higher education institutes.
