2022 Chinese New Year Party for International Students at NTNU
To celebrate the coming of new year, the Chinese New Year Party for International Students was held on December 29th. The party was started by a lion dance performance, followed by the traditional Chinese orchestra. More than 100 students attended the party. The organizer prepared traditional customs for students to try on and take pictures. The party was filled with a joyful atmosphere of new year celebration.
Guests who came to the party include Deputy Counselor Chen Guo Zhen of Department of International and Cross-strait Education, Ministry of Education, Vice President for International Affairs Lin Chun Chi, Dean Chen Hsueh Chih of the College of Education and Dean Shen Yung-Cheng of the College of Management Dean Chia-Hong Drapal Liao of the College of Music Director Chen Jia Ling of the Division of Preparatory Programs for Overseas Chinese Students.
Deputy Counselor Chen mentioned the care for oversea students by the Ministry of Education during her opening speech and acknowledged the effort of NTNU who takes good care of many oversea students. Vice President Lin gave a speech in both English and Mandarin to share his experience of overseas study.
At the beginning, the host introduced different customs of celebrating the lunar year and showed how to say blessings to each other during the new year. Games are prepared like bingo and lottery for the students to experience the fun of a traditional new year and students enjoy it a lot. Different departments like OIA, the College of Arts and the Office of President have prepared many lucky draw gifts like travel case, perfume, and bags. Students who attend this event can not only learn more about the lunar new year but also take home some new year gifts.
