English Chatroom Elaborates Thanksgiving Spirit

<p><font face="Arial">By Astrid Chiu<br /> Campus Reporter</font></p> <p><font face="Arial">Thanksgiving spirit was introduced to National Taiwan Normal University (NTNU) students as the Office of International Affairs' (OIA) English Chatroom organized an outdoor Thanksgiving party in front of the campus post office this noon.</font></p> <p><font face="Arial">&quot;Maybe the Thanksgiving is not as popular here in Taiwan as other western holidays, but we can take advantage of the chance to show our appreciation to certain people or certain things,&quot; said Martina Chiang (江雅婷), a tutor for the English Chatroom.</font></p> <p><font face="Arial">At the scene, free hot chocolate and postcards were offered to whoever participated in the outdoor party.&nbsp; Participants were encouraged to jot down their gratitude on those postcards then deliver or mail them to their beloved ones.</font></p> <p><font face="Arial">In addition to postcards, English Chatroom tutors at the scene also encouraged participants to hug each other as a token of appreciation and love.</font></p> <p><font face="Arial">Joy Chang (張瑜敏), a junior from the Department of Graphic Arts Communication, affirmed the creativity of such an outdoor event.</font></p> <p><font face="Arial">&quot;This is a holiday season and I am quite sure that whoever receives these postcards will be touched,&quot; she said.</font></p> <p><font face="Arial">In the meantime, Chang also said it was her observation that most of the participants for the outdoor Thanksgiving party were English major students or frequent visitors to the English Chatroom.</font></p> <p><font face="Arial">&quot;Maybe most students still did not know such an event since most of us learned information about it from the English Chatroom,&quot; she said.</font></p> <p><font face="Arial">The party was eventually relocated to the International Lounge because of rain.<br /> </font></p>
